TEDx SFU Talks

I had the pleasure of filming a TEDx talk at Simon Frasier University, Surrey Campus in December of 2011— I’ve always been a fan of the TED talks, so it was pretty cool getting asked to participate in this one! Additionally, we livestreamed the event with the help of Edukaans.

Pierre Bisbicis Commercials

Here’s a series of commercials that outline the different parts of Pierre Bisbicis’ law practice and specialties. We designed it so that they are friendly and clear in terms of portraying information, and I think that it comes off nicely in all six videos. We did the whole production!

Susanne Catt Guitar Promos

Susanne is one of Vancouver’s few female guitar instructors, and with her heavy accent and retro-looks, she makes for one cool chick to learn from! She hired me to create a promo video that she can use to show off the range of styles that she’s able to teach, and I think we’ve managed to bring out her personality as well as her skills. We’ll be doing more videos to showcase her guitar playing soon.

TEDx SFU

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of helping to film a livestream of a TEDx event at Simon Frasier University, Surrey (in partnership with Edukaans, which is a great family-owned livestreaming group— check them out and hire them for your events). It was a long day, but there were some great speakers and I got a chance to learn more about livestreaming. It went well, and hopefully we’ll see the edited videos as well as some photos from the event soon!

We’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up before the year’s end. Some of it is original creative content and some of it are hired smaller videos for individual projects. Stay tuned for some of these things including:

Occupy Vancouver: Day 7 (2)

Here’s part two of Day 7 from my Occupy Vancouver footage. This day was particularly interesting because we marched on the five major banks of Canada, and inside the TD the Occupiers showed their collective reasoning and decision-making techniques.

Occupy Vancouver: Day 7 (1)

Here’s video number 3! I had to split this day into two parts because there was so much happening…

22 October 2011: Seven days into the “occupation”, a large crowd gathers to listen to Canadian environmental icon David Suzuki give a speech. Afterwards, a march to occupy the “top five” largest Canadian banks is planned, with the intent to have protesters close their accounts. As the Occupiers grow more bold in their occupations, the banks respond by calling for a higher police presence, making for a tense situation inside Vancouvers main TD Canada Trust branch. The Occupiers respond by using the collective decision making techniques that they have been developing over the past week.

19 October 2011: Five days into the “occupation”, discussion amongst Occupiers continues into the night as music plays. At one point, celebrity musician Tom Morello stops by and speaks to the gathered crowd.

Occupy Vancouver: Day One

Here’s a vignette of the first day of Occupy Wall Street: Vancouver. I’ll be posting a series as I film on an ongoing basis, so stay tuned! Here’s the official statement for the first video:

15 October 2011: Vancouver, BC, Canada joins the worldwide Occupy Vancouver Movement at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The movement has taken the form of a protest, however the participants are aware that it in itself is not a means to an end as much as it is an open forum for the discussion regarding the need to restructure society.
